Bylaws

Article I
Name

The name of this Association shall be Golden State AMD Association, and its jurisdiction shall be the state of California. Its purpose is to gather constituent Councils together to promote greater awareness of the Allied Masonic Degrees through paper presentations and the conferral of its degrees.

Article II
Meetings

There shall be one regular meeting of this Association each calendar year, which shall be the annual state Ingathering, to be held in the month of May during the California Grand York Rite Annual Sessions.

Special meetings may be called by the President and may be held either in person or via electronic means, e.g., Zoom.

Article III
Association Officers

Section 3.1       The elected officers of this Association shall be the President, First Vice President, Second Vice President, Treasurer, and Secretary. The officer line will be progressive (except that of the Treasurer and Secretary), with the newly elected Second Vice President entering the line. The Grand Superintendents North and South will serve as ex officio members for oversight and to provide overall statewide guidance.

Section 3.2       All elected officers of the association must be a current sitting Sovereign Master or Past Sovereign Master in good standing with their local AMD council. The officers of this association shall be elected and installed at the annual meeting or as soon thereafter as practical.

Section 3.3       A registration fee for the annual Ingathering will be set by the officers of the Association. The purpose of this fee is to cover administrative costs (e.g., postage, paper, etc.) and facility use.

Section 3.4       An additional fee shall apply to proposed lunches or refreshments. The Secretary or Treasurer will be responsible for the collection and disbursement of such fees.

Article IV
Membership

Section 4.1       Participation by Brethren shall be predicated on membership in good standing in a California Allied Masonic Degree Council and a Chapter of Royal Arch Masons. Certain exceptions may be considered for out-of-state brethren at the Association’s discretion.

Section 4.2       Membership shall consist of Brethren proposed by the Association and shall be limited to five (5) in number and two (2) ex officio members who are non-voting members. Such a proposal shall receive a clear ballot at any meeting of the Organization before an invitation is extended.

Section 4.3       A brother wishing to terminate his membership in this Organization can do so only by written resignation, by Suspension for Non-payment of dues, or by failure to attend at least one Council meeting each year for a period of two years unless excused by the Association.

Article V
Amendments

Section 5.1    The Bylaws may be amended or repealed by a two-thirds (⅔) affirmative vote of the members present at a scheduled meeting of the Organization, provided the Secretary has notified each member one 30 days in advance of such intention.

These by-laws have been reviewed and approved by the Golden State Allied Masonic Degrees Association on (MM-DD-YY).
